Do you know hotels in Geylang probably offer the cheapest room rates in Singapore?

Why is that so? That’s because Geylang is the unofficial red light district of Singapore. Though it may sound intimidating but it is definitely safe for you to walk here anytime of the day given Singapore’s strict law enforcement practice.

Besides having cheap rooms, Geylang’s unique location is also a draw for budget travelers as it is just halfway between Changi Airport and the city center. Served by the nearby Kallang or Aljunied MRT train stations, you are just 20-min by train to business districts and Orchard Road.

  1. Good list. Although I still would not recommend Geylang for families to stay, it is a very nice and central location for others to consider. Besides being the unofficial red light district of Singapore, Geylang in my opinion is the unofficial Chinatown of Singapore. Unlike quite “made-for-tourists” look and feel of Chinatown, Geylang has a very authentic and natural Asian street look and feel especially in the night.
